Malachite paired with chrysocolla on a footed silverplate plate gives this piece a wholly green-toned surface, both being copper-bearing stones. It belongs to Los Castillo's stone-and-metal tableware, made alongside the firm's jewelry.
The foot raises the plate while malachite and chrysocolla, close in color, carry the design against the worked metal. Los Castillo, founded in Taxco by Antonio Castillo in 1939, held to refining its work rather than repeating a design (Morrill, p. 91).
