How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Who we are
The Museum of Mexican Silver (“the Museum,” “we,” “us”) operates museumofmexicansilver.com, an online catalog and research resource for 20th-century Mexican silver. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the site and create an account, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions can be sent to hello@museumofmexicansilver.com.
Information we collect
- Account information
- When you create an account by email magic link or by signing in with Google, we receive your email address and, where you provide it, your name. Signing in with Google shares your basic Google profile (name, email address, and profile picture) with us; we do not receive your Google password or access anything else in your Google account.
- Profile and onboarding answers
- During onboarding we ask which best describes you and what brings you to the catalog, and, for professional users, optional organization details. You can also add a display name, username, and bio. These help us tailor the catalog and are editable any time in your profile.
- Collection, wishlist, and saved searches
- If you track pieces, build a wishlist, or save searches, we store those records against your account so they are there when you return.
- Submissions
- If you submit a piece for identification, we store the photographs and details you provide and use them to produce your report. Submission handling is governed by the submission terms.
- Usage information
- Like most sites, we collect basic usage and device information through cookies and analytics to understand how the catalog is used and to improve it.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate your account and the features you use, to produce and deliver submission reports, to send account-related and transactional email, to maintain the security and integrity of the service, and to understand and improve how the catalog is used. We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the site on our behalf, under agreements that limit them to providing those services:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and photo storage.
- Google— “Sign in with Google” authentication, when you choose it.
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Postmark — transactional and account email delivery.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the Museum and its users.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in (a session cookie) and to power analytics. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though doing so may sign you out and limit some features.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile, collection, wishlist, and saved searches from your account, and sign out at any time. You can request deletion of your account and associated data — including by removing the Museum's app from your Google account settings, or by emailing us — as described on our data deletion page. We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.
Children
The site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service evolves; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@museumofmexicansilver.com.
