Open Sugar Bowl of Silver with Round Rosewood Handles

An open silver sugar bowl fitted with round rosewood handles, this object pairs hand-raised silver with turned native hardwood in the workshop's characteristic table vocabulary. The wooden handles give the bowl its grip and its accent of warm color against the metal.

The combination of silver hollowware with rosewood handles was a hallmark of Spratling's First Design Period table service, the kind of object the taller produced for everyday use.
