Bow and Heart Earrings

These silver earrings take the form of a bow with a dangling heart, a light, sentimental design that the workshop also sold in a variant.

The same bow, with a dangling ball in place of the heart, was offered in the 1943 Montgomery Ward Christmas catalog, part of the run of Spratling silver featured by the mail-order house across the 1943 to 1946 years (Morrill, p. 257). The catalog reach brought hand-wrought Taxco designs to a broad American audience.

The bow earrings are modern silver at its most accessible, the form carried entirely by the working of the metal into ribbon and heart.
