Beryllium/Copper Bracelet

A bracelet pairing silver with beryllium copper puts Spratling's interest in mixed metals on display, the copper alloy lending a warm tone and a different working character against the silver. Combining metals and other materials within a single object was a consistent thread in his design thinking.

That instinct for setting silver against a contrasting material runs through his work, the same logic Morrill traces in his affinity for Puiforcat's silver enriched by rosewood and other materials (Morrill, p. 224). The safety chain on this example is a later addition rather than original equipment.

The design has been reissued in silver and copper, which means period examples in the original beryllium-copper combination are the ones that distinguish themselves to collectors.
