Duck Pattern Salad Fork

A silver salad serving fork known as the "duck" pattern, this is one of the workshop's named tableware models, its form carried into the canon of recognized Spratling designs. The pattern's standing is underscored by its inclusion in the 1965 traveling exhibition "The World of William Spratling," which toured several United States museums and whose published inventory listed salad servers among the silver on view (Morrill, p. 77).

That exhibition gathered Spratling's jewelry and objects in silver alongside Pre-Columbian art from his own collection, framing the workshop's output as a body of work worth museum attention. A serving fork carried into that show is part of the established Spratling repertoire.

Recorded in Morrill's Maestros de Plata study and in Goddard's field guide, the fork is a documented example of the named flatware patterns the taller produced.
