This carving knife comes from Hector Aguilar's production of silver flatware at the Taller Borda, the dimension of the Taxco workshop's output that sat alongside its better-known jewelry. Aguilar ran the Taller Borda from 1939 to 1962, and over those decades the bench turned out serving and table pieces in the same assured, design-driven manner that defined the house.
A carving knife is a functional object given real consideration as a form, the silver worked to a finish consistent with the rest of Aguilar's output.
