Curatorial note

This bracelet is a compact example of Taxco workshop design: a line of articulated sterling links, each link cut into a mirrored scroll or fleur-de-lis-like silhouette around a central diamond opening, joined so that the ornament remains both architectural and flexible on the wrist. The visible mark reads J. FLORES with TAXCO MEX and 925, matching the J. Flores entry in Hougart, which records the J. FLORES mark and associates it with eagle numbers 1 and 3. Hougart also documents José Luis Flores separately as a silversmith who worked for Héctor Aguilar at Taller Borda and whose JLF marks appear on work for Miguel García Martínez, Emma Meléndez, and Rubi Ramírez; that context should not override the mark on this bracelet, but it places Flores-marked production within the wider Taxco workshop network. The piece matters for the collection because it records the signed work of a named Taxco maker outside the best-known headline workshops, showing how Mexican modern silver was sustained by individual silversmiths, subcontracting relationships, and commercially agile designs as well as by celebrated founders.
