Hammered mixed metal gives this copper bowl both its surface and its color scheme, the married metals of Los Castillo carried across a vessel whose planished texture catches the contrast of copper and silver. The technique itself is the ornament (Morrill, p. 98).
Founded in Taxco in 1939 by the Castillo brothers, the workshop became closely identified with this union of metals in its hollowware. A hammered mixed-metal bowl reaches the market only occasionally.
