Curatorial note

A mixed-metal service pitcher worked largely in copper puts the Los Castillo married-metal technique onto a functional vessel, the contrasting metals reading as the decoration. Morrill records the taller producing married-metal holloware in copper, brass and silver through the postwar years, c.1945-55 (Morrill, p. 98).

The metales casados approach, fusing dissimilar metals into one surface, was the workshop's calling card, and a service piece shows it at usable scale. Copper gives the body its warm tone against any silver detailing.

Los Castillo, founded in Taxco in 1939, was among the talleres grandes whose scale let it refine this technique across years of production (Stromberg, p. 41).
