This dinner fork carries the Amarres Disco pattern, which Spratling himself called the "Heavy Disc" design, marked by a single applied disc on the handle. The disc is the same circular unit that runs through his jewelry and holloware, here anchoring a flatware pattern that was substantial enough in feel to earn its "heavy" name.

The applied disc reduces the design to one strong element, a clean circle of silver on the handle, in keeping with Spratling's habit of building a pattern from a single repeating form. The design has been reissued, reflecting the continuity of his flatware repertoire.

Spratling's flatware was hand-wrought throughout, and after his death the Sucesores continued his designs by long-unchanged techniques (Morrill, p. 251), the tradition a reissued pattern like this belongs to.
