A salad-server fork in the Amarres pattern, its neck wrapped in silver wire and finished with a silver ball at the base of the handle - "amarres" meaning ties or bindings, the wrapped wire giving the pattern its name. The motif was used for entire place settings, marking it as a full service design rather than a single server.
The wrapped-wire binding draws on the cord and saddle ornament Spratling cited among the sources for his early work (Morrill, p. 39), translated here into flatware.
The design has been reissued, though the reissue's fork tines differ from the original. The fork is recorded in Goddard's Spratling Silver: A Field Guide.
