A sterling silver necklace in the mid-century modernist manner of Taxco, this piece comes from a designer who helped shape that idiom from inside its founding workshops. Salvador Teran was among the earliest apprentices at Spratling's Las Delicias and worked as a designer at Los Castillo, where he was considered an outstanding designer and technician in silversmithing, before establishing his own taller (Morrill, p. 206).
The design favors worked silver and sculptural form over applied stones, consistent with the sober modernism that the independent Taxco talleres pursued as they developed their own styles after leaving Spratling.
