Maguey bracelet

This is probably the single most iconic Aguilar bracelet. The design translates the maguey/agave plant into a sequence of sculptural silver links, making it both botanical and architectural. Morrill/Berk specifically discuss the “maguey nuevo” bracelet as a technically brilliant design in which the maguey leaves curve around silver balls and form hidden hinges. It is the clearest example of Aguilar’s ability to make jewelry read as small-scale modern sculpture.
