The orchid brooch is the canonical Aguilar floral object. Morrill/Berk identify tropical flowers as important design sources for Aguilar and Vidaurreta. It belongs because it demonstrates the opposite side of Aguilar’s genius from the heavy architectural bracelets: delicate botanical observation translated into dimensional repoussé silver. A strong orchid brooch is essential in any serious Aguilar display.
