Chrysocolla worked as Mosaico Azteca gives this bracelet its identity, the blue-green stone cut and set into the Aztec-derived mosaic pattern that became one of Los Castillo's named lines. The stone is fitted as inlay across the band, pre-Columbian source translated into modern jewelry (Morrill, p. 206).
The Mosaico Azteca line drew directly on the workshop's deep tradition of setting native Mexican stone into metal. Founded in Taxco in 1939 by the Castillo brothers, the workshop made this mosaic vocabulary a signature; a chrysocolla Mosaico Azteca bracelet is a recognizable type sought by collectors of the Taxco school.
