Design 5102 belongs to the numbered system through which Margot de Taxco ran her entire enamel output, each model assigned a number that designated it in the workshop's inventory (Morrill, pdf p. 15). The low number places it relatively early in her production, since for the most part the smaller the number, the earlier the design.
The bracelet's enamel-on-silver is the champlevé work she perfected into one of her major lines, after the technique was first initiated at the Los Castillo workshop by Reveriano Castillo and Miguel Melendez (Morrill, p. 166). Margot wrote detailed instructions for each design, fixing the dies and the color choices for the enameling (Morrill, p. 168).
