Design number 5644 marks this necklace within Margot de Taxco's running inventory of numbered models, a number on the back designating the design in the manner she shared with the leading Taxco talleres (Morrill, pp. 15, 168).
Margot designed everything her company produced and documented each piece in a written book specifying dies, color choices, and assembly, her drawings serving as templates for the enamelers (Morrill, p. 168). An enamel-on-sterling necklace is the output of that disciplined method.
Surviving examples show the saturated color and clean silverwork of her enamel jewelry.
