Antonio Pineda's modernist, sculptural treatment of Mexican silver underpins this onyx link necklace. Pineda worked in Taxco through the postwar decades when the town's silver became a recognized design tradition, and his pieces are known for their architectural restraint and reliance on material contrast rather than applied decoration.
The necklace is built from links set with onyx, the dark stone set against sterling so that the cadence of the links and the contrast of the two materials define the design. It reflects the disciplined vocabulary Pineda kept across his 1953-1979 output.
