Curatorial note

A large scalloped silver cuff with six gold discs set in a row beneath a central silver wire that runs across the band, this First Design Period bracelet brings two metals into a single bold gesture, the warm gold reading against the silver along the wire's axis. The scalloped edge gives the heavy cuff a softened, rhythmic silhouette.

The pairing of silver with gilded accents shows the workshop's early appetite for material contrast within a strong, simple form. The cuff is recorded in Morrill's Maestros de Plata.

Worked in 980 silver under the joined "WS" mark Spratling adapted from his horse brand (Morrill, p. 39), the bracelet rests on its early date, the integrity of the gold discs and central wire, and the period hallmark.
