This cuff comes from the Taxco workshop of Hector Aguilar, whose Taller Borda was a defining force in mid-century Mexican silver. Aguilar's work paired heavy-gauge metal with a restrained modernist sensibility, and a cuff set with amethyst shows the shop's handling of stone within that idiom.
Built around amethyst, the bracelet sets the stone against solid, hand-wrought metal, the design balancing the color of the material against the weight and line the Aguilar shop favored.
