This copper and brass candelabra is a reminder that Hector Aguilar's Taxco workshop was not confined to silver. Alongside the jewelry and holloware that made his name, Aguilar produced decorative metalwork for the home in copper and brass, and this candelabra belongs to that side of his output.
Worked in copper with brass, the piece came from the Taller Borda, the workshop Aguilar built in Taxco after William Spratling launched the town's silver revival in the 1930s. Its materials place it among the non-silver decorative objects the workshop turned out for interiors.
