Hector Aguilar's Taller Borda produced flatware and hollowware alongside the jewelry for which it is best known, and this Aztec teaspoon belongs to that domestic side of the workshop's output. It carries the same design discipline Aguilar brought to the body into objects for the table.
Made in silver, the teaspoon dates to the long span of Aguilar's independent production between 1939 and 1962, when the Taller Borda was supplying both wearable silver and tableware from Taxco.
