This serving spoon comes from the part of Hector Aguilar's practice that is easy to overlook and central to his reputation: the functional silver made for the table. From the founding of his Taller Borda in Taxco in 1939, Aguilar treated flatware and holloware with the same seriousness as jewelry, and a serving piece like this is where his preference for usable, handwrought design is most directly felt.

The spoon is conceived for service rather than display. A generous bowl and a clean handle in solid silver carry no applied decoration, relying instead on balance and the soft finish of hand-raised metal. That economy of means is the through-line of Taller Borda's domestic output.
