Eagle Knight Mosaic Box, Design No. 5560

This box presents an Eagle Knight figure in mosaic-like enamel and mixed metal, a compact object that turns the lid into a field of pre-Columbian revival imagery. The corrected Design No. 5560 places it within Margot de Taxco's numbered inventory and gives the object a more specific identity than the generic Mosaic Box title.

Its material structure is central to the design. Sterling silver frames and supports the object, while copper, wood, and enamel supply the color and surface contrast that make the figure legible. The box shows Margot's workshop using the techniques associated with her jewelry on a small functional object, preserving the same balance of pictorial design and precise fabrication.
