Design number 5583 identifies this necklace within Margot de Taxco's inventory of numbered models, a number stamped on the reverse in the system she shared with the major Taxco workshops (Morrill, pp. 15, 168).
Margot designed everything her company produced and codified each piece in a written book specifying dies, color choices, and assembly, her drawings serving as templates for the enamelers (Morrill, p. 168). The necklace is enamel on sterling, formed with molds to that standard.
Surviving examples carry the color and precise silverwork characteristic of her work.
