Sharing its design number with a pair of earrings in the same line, necklace 5207 reflects the way Margot de Taxco planned her jewelry as coordinated designs; her written notes for each model recorded which set of earrings was meant to go with a given piece (Morrill, p. 168). The number stamped on the back is how the workshop kept that system straight (Morrill, p. 15).
Margot designed everything her company produced and specified each model in a written book covering dies, color choices, and assembly, her drawings serving as templates for the enamelers (Morrill, p. 168). The necklace is enamel on sterling, formed and finished to that standard.
Surviving examples preserve the saturated color of her enamel line.
