Design number 5334 identifies this necklace within Margot de Taxco's inventory of numbered models, the system of back-stamped numbers she shared with Los Castillo, Pineda, and the other major Taxco workshops (Morrill, pp. 15, 168).
Margot designed everything her company produced and worked from a written book specifying the dies, the enamel color choices, and the assembly for each model, her drawings serving as templates for the enamelers (Morrill, p. 168). An enamel-on-sterling necklace is the output of that disciplined process.
Surviving examples show the color and precise silverwork that defined her work.
