Swan Necklace

A 'Swan' necklace shows Margot van Voorhies Carr drawing an elegant living form into enameled silver. The sterling-and-enamel pairing is the basis of her reputation. Champlevé enamel-on-silver had originated at Los Castillo with Reveriano Castillo and Miguel Melendez, and Margot perfected it into one of her major lines (Morrill, p. 166).

Every model her taller produced was her own design, set down with written instructions covering the dies and enamel colors (Morrill, p. 168), so a named design like the 'Swan' was a fixed catalog entry.
