Curatorial note

A traditional creamer with a large silver handle, this is among the plainer table forms from Spratling's first design period, its interest lying in proportion rather than ornament. It was also produced with the WS-in-circle print and Sterling hallmarks, the variation in marking helping place individual examples within the workshop's chronology.

The simple raised body reflects the hand fabrication of the Las Delicias workshop, where Spratling led the Taxco silver revival of the 1930s. The joined "WS" mark Morrill traces to the brand Spratling used for his horses (p. 39).

With no scholarly reference recorded, this is a modestly documented form known chiefly through its hallmark variants.
