Curatorial note

The design Spratling called "crowned pyramid" takes a silver rectangle and finishes it with a worked "rolled fringe," the maker's own name fixing the motif. Tellingly, the same design served across forms - it was used for a bracelet and a pin as well as this ring - showing how a single Spratling motif could migrate across an entire jewelry suite.

That adaptability is characteristic of the Las Delicias workshop, where a successful design idea was carried from one object type to another. The geometric, stepped character of the "crowned pyramid" reflects the pre-Columbian architectural sources Stromberg identifies in Taxco design (p. 27).

The ring is recorded across the major references, including Morrill and Berk's Mexican Silver, Morrill's Maestros de Plata, and Goddard's field guide.
