A necklace numbered 5144 belongs to the inventory of designs Margot de Taxco kept by number, marks on the backs of her pieces that generally climb over time and so loosely date the model within her output (Morrill, pp. 15, 168).
Every design was Margot's own, set down in a written book of per-piece instructions covering dies, color choices, and assembly, with her drawings as templates for the enamelers (Morrill, p. 168). An enamel-on-sterling necklace is the product of that exacting method.
Surviving examples carry the color and precise silverwork that defined her work.
