A ring of gold rather than silver, its band worked with a striated surface and set with a large cabochon of yellow-gold rutilated quartz - the needle-like inclusions in the stone echoing the striations cut into the metal. Gold pieces are a small and distinct part of Spratling's output, the choice of metal here matched to the warm tone of the quartz.
